Suryaa National Desk: The administration in Delhi has initiated its winter action plan to control air pollution. On the first day of the implementation of these restrictions, Delhi traffic police and transport department officials conducted joint inspections, resulting in Rs 68.4 lakh in fines and environmental compensation charges.

Authorities stopped 1,539 vehicles at border checkpoints for attempting to enter the city in violation of pollution regulations. Since the rules came into effect on November 1, approximately 15,000 vehicles have been inspected at border points. Among the vehicles turned back were 140 light motor vehicles, 54 light commercial vehicles, 95 heavy goods vehicles, and 34 buses. Officials issued 127 challans to motorists and seized 62 vehicles for severe violations.

As part of measures to reduce pollution, the government has mandated that from November 1 to January 31, physical attendance in public and private offices be limited to 50 percent, with the remaining staff working from home. Essential and emergency services are exempt from this directive. Officials stated that inspections regarding vehicle compliance and construction site regulations will be intensified in the coming days.
