Suryaa International Desk: In an unexpected political development, UFC Chief Executive Officer Dana White has declined an offer from President Donald Trump to serve as White House Press Secretary. Despite their long-standing association, White stated he has no intention of entering direct politics and plans to remain focused on sports management.
President Trump initially proposed the appointment via a post on his Truth Social platform, where he described White as a combative fighter. Trump suggested that White’s aggressive approach would be suitable for defending the administration against Democrats in the media room. Furthermore, Trump proposed that six prominent UFC fighters—Khabib Nurmagomedov, Islam Makhachev, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Kayla Harrison, and Amanda Nunes—be appointed as assistants.
While responding to media inquiries during a trip to London, White expressed gratitude for the President's confidence but reiterated that he is occupied with his responsibilities at the UFC and other duties. He confirmed that he is scheduled to meet with the President at the White House on Monday.
While some White House sources dismissed the proposal as a lighthearted suggestion, international analysts suggest the move may be linked to the current vacancy in the Press Secretary position and a desire to strengthen the administration's communications following recent election results.
