Suryaa Telangana Desk: Cyberabad Police have invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against an interstate drug peddler involved in the illegal transportation of ganja. Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh issued the detention orders against Sachin Gangaram Maruti Chavan, a resident of Solapur, Maharashtra.

According to police, the accused procured large quantities of ganja from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha to sell to consumers at high prices through his associates. He had established a network for the collection, transportation, and sale of the substance across multiple states.

Between 2020 and 2026, five cases of illegal ganja transportation were registered against the accused. These include three cases in Telangana, one in Maharashtra, and one in Karnataka. Authorities identified that the accused was also conducting supply operations within the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits.

Citing the accused's repeated criminal activities and the threat posed by his interstate network to public health and order, the Commissioner ordered the invocation of the PD Act. The accused was taken into custody and transferred to Cherlapally Central Prison via the Patancheru Police Station.
