Suryaa Telangana Desk: In observance of One Health Day, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) organized a surveillance and awareness program to highlight the connection between human health, animal health, and environmental protection. Officials from the CMC’s veterinary, medical, and sanitation departments, along with the Metropolitan Surveillance Unit (MSU), participated in the initiative.

During the program, authorities inspected 11 meat shops and 4 dairy farms. The inspections focused on hygiene, sanitation conditions, animal health, and the scientific management and disposal of animal waste. Officials examined the potential risks to public health caused by poor sanitation and improper waste disposal, which could facilitate the spread of diseases between humans, animals, and the environment.

Where deficiencies were identified, officials provided instructions for corrective measures. Meat vendors and dairy workers were briefed on safe food handling practices, personal hygiene, workspace cleanliness, and the prevention of food contamination. Authorities emphasized the necessity of adhering to prescribed hygiene standards to protect public health.

Officials stated that the One Health approach recognizes the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health. They noted that coordinated surveillance is essential for the early detection and prevention of disease. The CMC aims to foster a healthy urban environment by promoting health awareness, safe food handling, and responsible waste management through these ongoing inspection and awareness programs.
