Suryaa Now International Desk: As part of strategic efforts to boost indigenous technology in the face of US sanctions, China's leading memory chip maker... China's leading memory chip maker Changjin Memory Technologies (CXMT) is gearing up to start production of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) memory chips as part of its strategic efforts to boost indigenous technology in the face of US sanctions. Despite poor yields and technical challenges in production, it has decided to accelerate the manufacturing of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips without backing down, reliable sources said. International giants SK Hynix, Micron, and Samsung continue to lead the way in manufacturing high-bandwidth memory chips that form the backbone of the artificial intelligence (AI) field.
Chinese companies are also working hard to develop this technology at home. However, the quality and yield of the chips during the manufacturing process did not reach the expected level and became a major challenge for CXMG. However, China is taking this step with the aim of meeting the needs of the domestic market and reducing dependence on foreign technology. Tough US sanctions are making it harder for Chinese companies to buy cutting-edge semiconductor equipment and software.
Amid these adverse conditions, CXMG is taking forward its projects with the help of domestic research and subsidies. Technology experts are analyzing that if the production of these AI memory chips is successful in the near future, China is likely to tighten its grip on the global semiconductor market.
