Suryaa National Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader, former Deputy Prime Minister, and Bharat Ratna recipient LK Advani as he enters his 100th year. Prime Minister Modi described Advani as a guide in Indian political and social history, noting his contributions to the construction of modern India.

Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi, Advani joined the RSS in 1942. He played a role in strengthening the Jana Sangh and the BJP. Prime Minister Modi recalled the 1990 Rath Yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya as a historical event, noting that he had the opportunity to work with Advani during its planning and execution. He stated that this yatra changed the direction of Indian politics and laid the foundation for the Ram Temple construction.

The Prime Minister highlighted the dual leadership of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani as the beginning of a new era in Indian democracy. He also noted Advani’s efforts during the Emergency to protect democracy and constitutional values. During his tenure as Union Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Advani worked to strengthen national security.

Prime Minister Modi also recognized Advani’s interest in literature, arts, cinema, and theater. He mentioned Advani’s book, "My Country My Life," and his efforts to preserve Sindhi culture through the "Sindhu Darshan Puja" in the Leh region. The Prime Minister acknowledged the support of Advani’s late wife, Kamala Advani, throughout his public life.

In 2024, the Government of India awarded the Bharat Ratna to Advani. Prime Minister Modi expressed his wishes for Advani’s health and longevity as he reaches this milestone. Various public figures and political leaders across the country are also extending their birthday greetings and commemorating his service.
