BCCI Extends IPL Retention Deadline; Mini-Auction Scheduled for December 16 in Goa

Suryaa Sports Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced an extension for the Indian Premier League (IPL) player retention deadline. Franchises, which were previously required to submit their lists of retained and released players by November 15, now have until November 17 to finalize their decisions.

This extension is reportedly linked to the ongoing limited-overs series between India and New Zealand, providing franchise owners additional time to focus on their retention strategies. All ten franchises are required to submit their final lists to the BCCI by the new November 17 deadline. Following this, the player registration process is scheduled to conclude by December 23, facilitating upcoming trading and auction preparations.

The BCCI has confirmed that there are no changes to the date or venue for the IPL 2027 mini-auction. The event will take place in Goa on December 16. Additionally, a special meeting for franchise representatives is scheduled for December 15.

Franchises are currently utilizing the trading window to adjust their team compositions. With the retention deadline extended, the final lists of retained players and purse details are expected to be released by the board ahead of the mini-auction. This will be the final mini-auction before the next mega auction.
