Suryaa Telangana Desk: The Telangana Asha Workers State Union (BRTU-CITU-AITUC) Coordination Committee has announced an indefinite strike starting December 15, 2026, if the state government fails to resolve their demands. The union issued a formal strike notice on November 7.
Union leaders stated that approximately 27,130 Asha workers across the state have been providing medical services to the public for the past 20 years. They highlighted that Asha workers play a key role in delivering primary healthcare services in both rural and urban areas, safeguarding the health of pregnant women, postnatal mothers, and children, and serving during the COVID-19 pandemic without concern for their lives.
The union expressed distress over government neglect regarding job security, minimum wages, and social security.
