Suryaa Entertainment Desk: Actor Chandan Roy recently reflected on how the Panchayat web series, released on a major OTT platform, transformed his life and career. After leaving a career in journalism to pursue acting, Roy moved to Mumbai and initially performed in various small roles. He noted that the release of Panchayat served as a significant turning point in his career. Despite the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic during the series' release, he stated that it received an unexpected and positive response from audiences.
Roy shared an incident that helped him realize the scale of the series' success. While visiting his hometown during the release period, a young boy stopped the bike he was riding on to praise his performance. Roy noted that he had initially assumed the series' popularity was limited to major cities like Mumbai and Delhi, but the interaction in a remote village made him realize the project's widespread reach.
Due to the recognition gained from the series, Roy stated that he is now more selective regarding his roles. While he previously accepted any available work to sustain himself, he now has the freedom to choose roles he prefers. He specifically mentioned that he is avoiding roles that lack significance, such as standard friend-of-the-hero characters, and is instead opting for roles with strong backgrounds. He aims to select diverse stories to establish his presence in the industry.
Roy also highlighted the value of working with experienced actors, noting that the dedication of senior actor Raghubir Yadav has been an inspiration. He expressed that one can learn acting techniques by observing the work of others rather than imitating them. Currently busy with various projects, Roy stated that he intends to continue appearing in roles that entertain the audience.
