Suryaa Telangana Desk: The Jal Mandali initiative to involve citizens in water conservation by preventing the wastage and misuse of drinking water is receiving public response. To date, 437 individuals have voluntarily registered as Water Warriors through the Jal Mandali website.
Citizens interested in water conservation can register as Save Water Volunteers on the official website. Once registered, they may download the PAANI app from the Google Play Store to identify and report instances of drinking water wastage in their surroundings. Reported issues may include the use of drinking water for washing vehicles or floors, overflowing water tanks, and other forms of wastage.
Upon receiving reports from volunteers, officials will conduct field inspections. If water misuse is confirmed, action will be taken according to regulations. The identities of those who file complaints will be kept confidential.
In light of upcoming El Nino conditions, Jal Mandali has appealed to the public to prioritize water conservation. The board has suggested that every family reduce their daily water consumption by at least 20 percent, prevent leaks, and avoid using drinking water for unnecessary purposes.
Jal Mandali has encouraged more individuals from colonies, apartments, gated communities, and residential complexes to step forward as Water Warriors. The board stated that water wastage can be effectively curbed through public participation and urged every citizen to use the PAANI app to join the water conservation movement.
