Suryaa Sports Desk: Team India’s young opener Abhishek Sharma has gained recognition for his batting in international cricket. Former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who serves as a mentor to Sharma, stated that the left-handed batter possesses the potential to lead the Indian team in the future.
Yuvraj Singh noted that Sharma displays the qualities of a leader, specifically highlighting his ability to encourage teammates and support young players on the field. However, Yuvraj suggested that before leading the national team, Sharma should gain experience by captaining an IPL franchise. He explained that leading a team in a league like the IPL provides the confidence to handle pressure, which would be beneficial for leading a larger team in the future.
Yuvraj expressed confidence that even if Sharma does not become captain, he will develop into a world-class player in white-ball cricket. Additionally, Yuvraj advised selectors to include Sharma in the Indian ODI team, stating that consistent young players should be given adequate opportunities in the 50-over format.
