Suryaa News Desk: Voters from Mamidigunta village in Thottambedu mandal staged a protest on Thursday following the relocation of their polling station to Dainedu. The change, attributed to technical reasons, affected 93 voters who were previously accustomed to casting their ballots in Mamidigunta.

The voters objected to the shift, questioning why the polling station was moved to Dainedu, which has only 33 registered voters. They stated they would not cast their votes unless the station was returned to Mamidigunta.

Returning Officer Govindaraja Bhaskar explained that the relocation was due to a technical error and noted that bus transportation was provided for the Mamidigunta voters. Despite these arrangements, election officials and local leaders were unable to persuade the voters to participate. The buses remained empty throughout the day and eventually departed without any passengers.

Criticism has been raised regarding the lack of initiative to address the voters' concerns, with questions emerging over whether prior notice was provided regarding the change. Observers noted that the failure to facilitate the participation of the 93 voters is being viewed as contrary to democratic principles.
