Surya National Desk, Chandigarh: The incident in Haryana where some miscreants attacked and pelted stones on a luxury sleeper bus carrying passengers from Delhi to Srinagar caused a stir. When the bus stopped at a dhaba in Haryana for dinner, a dispute over parking turned into a storm. Bus driver Waqar Chowdhury expressed his deep grief that he was called a 'terrorist' and threatened that vehicles with Jammu and Kashmir registration (JK) number will not be allowed to ply on this route. Breaking of mirrors – injuries to an elderly passenger: After this dispute, four or five miscreants on bikes attacked the bus with bricks and stones near Kurukshetra.

The windows and lights of the bus were completely destroyed in this attack. An elderly man suffered serious facial injuries after the glass shells fell on passengers sleeping inside. The driver and the passengers complained that they were repeatedly harassed and labeled as 'extremists' just because they were Kashmiris. Haryana Police has registered a case on this incident and arrested two persons from Karnal. CM Omar Abdullah spoke to the Haryana government: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah strongly condemned this heinous attack.

Such attacks on innocent passengers are totally unacceptable. He disclosed that his office has consulted with the Haryana government on this matter and the Haryana government has assured that strict action will be taken against the accused as per law. The National Conference and PDP leaders demanded that Kashmiri transporters and passengers should be provided full protection.
