Surya Crime & National Desk: Beed district police in Maharashtra have arrested a three-member gang who were stealing cash and gold ornaments from innocent bus passengers by believing them to show divine powers and miracles. The members of this gang, who were distracting the passengers and showing off their hands, were arrested and the stolen valuables were recovered from them. Net in the name of Mahimala – jewelery and cash stolen: According to the police report, the three accused used to enter the buses like ordinary passengers. They targeted solo travelers to long distances, especially the elderly and women.
They believe that they have supernatural powers, can tell the future and solve problems in a pinch. It is recommended to remove gold rings, chains or money from the purse and wrap it in a handkerchief for the prevention of dosha. Then they would do tricks to divert attention, hand over a fake bag with stones and pieces of paper in place of the original bag and get off the bus in the middle. Police Surveillance Arrest of the accused: After reaching the destinations, the victims opened the package and realized that they had been cheated and approached the police. After receiving a series of complaints, the Beed police entered the field and identified the accused by examining the CCTV footage of bus stands and key intersections.
A raid was conducted on a tip-off and the three accused were caught red-handed. The stolen property was recovered from them and sent to remand. The police have warned the travelers not to be fooled by the magic and glories of strangers and not to leave valuables in the hands of others.
