Surya Weather Desk, New Delhi: The intensity of winter is gradually increasing in national capital Delhi. India Meteorological Department (IMD) revealed that 17.1 degrees Celsius was recorded as the lowest night temperature so far this season.

City dwellers are experiencing severe cold for the first time as temperatures have dropped below normal. Falling mercury effect of cold winds: Over the past few days, the temperatures around Delhi-NCR have been dropping rapidly due to clear skies and dry cold winds blowing from the north. With the minimum temperature falling to 17.1 degrees, there will be light fog during the morning and night hours. Meteorologists predict that the night temperatures will drop further in the coming days and there is a chance of a cold spell.

Impact on air pollution: Air quality index (AQI) in Delhi is showing signs of deterioration as temperatures drop and wind speed slows. Environmentalists warn that due to the cold air remaining near the ground, the dust and smoke will turn into fog (Smog) and increase the intensity of pollution. Officials have made it clear that the cold will become more severe by the end of October.
