Suryaa National Desk: The special one-hour Muhurat trading session held on Indian stock markets to mark the beginning of the new Vikram Samvat concluded with minor losses. Although indices traded in the green initially due to enthusiastic buying, they slipped into losses during the final minutes as profit booking occurred in banking, IT, and heavyweight stocks. During the session, the Sensex crossed the 81,000 mark and the Nifty surpassed the 25,000 level before losing those gains.

At the close of trading, the BSE Sensex fell by 28 points to settle at 80,999, while the NSE Nifty declined by 43 points to finish at 24,986. While Muhurat trading sessions typically end with gains, this marks the first time in approximately eight years that the session has closed in the red. Stocks including Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, ONGC, and Maruti Suzuki ended with gains, while SBI Life, Indigo, Bharti Airtel, and Infosys recorded losses.
