SuryaaNow Telangana Desk: Shortage of PET teachers in private schools.. Students who are staying away from sports, Major News: Education means only book lessons, marks in exams,... Keesara, Major News: Education should not be limited to book lessons, marks and ranks in exams. Equal importance should be given to physical fitness, mental development and sports skills of the students. But is physical education getting due importance in some private schools in Keesara mandal center and surrounding villages? Recruiting qualified PET teachers? Questions arise. There is a need for education authorities to focus on the condition of students' health and sports in schools that promote themselves as the best educational institutions. There is criticism that students spend most of their time in classrooms from morning to evening. Children studying from class 1 to class 10 need games and exercise along with studies. But are some schools giving enough time to sports?

Are trained PET teachers available? Field level examination should be done on those issues. In some other schools, there are allegations that students of class 9 and 10 are taking responsibility for preparing other students for games and organizing sports events. If there is a shortage of teachers to guide the students, questions are being expressed as to how reasonable it is to leave those responsibilities on the students. Exercise and sports contribute to children's physical growth, mental happiness and concentration. Team sports develop discipline, leadership qualities and cooperation. Schools that talk about holistic development of students should give due importance to sports in practice. Focusing only on examination results and ranks and neglecting physical education is likely to affect the overall development of students. Section 19 of the Right to Education Act-2009, in the supplementary schedule, mentions the standards and facilities required for schools. In schools with more than 100 students from class 6 to 8, there are provisions for appointment of part-time teachers for health and physical education as well as art education and work education. But instead of assuming that the same rules apply to every private school, one has to look at the identity of the schools, the number of students and the rules in force in Telangana.

Section 29 of the Act also prioritizes comprehensive development of children, increasing physical and mental abilities. There is a need for Medchal District Education Department officials to carry out special inspections on the appointment of PET teachers in private schools in Keesara mandal, their qualifications, availability of sports grounds, and management of daily physical education programs. The parents of the students want to check the number of students, the available sports facilities, the time allocated for physical education and take appropriate action if there are violations of the rules. Parents are enrolling their children in private schools in the hope of getting quality education. Educational institutions promoting better results, modern teaching and comprehensive development should also take steps to improve physical health and sports talent of students. Adequate place should be given to physical education in school time table by appointing qualified teachers as per applicable norms. The future of students is not determined by the marks table alone. Health, self-confidence, discipline, sports skills also play a vital role in their growth. The parents want the education department officials to conduct a comprehensive review on the appointment of PET teachers and implementation of physical education in private schools in Keesara mandal and bring the facts to light.
