Surya International Bureau, New Delhi/Tehran: Iran's authorities have confirmed that Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will not attend the prestigious BRICS Parliamentary Forum meeting to be held in New Delhi. The Office of Parliamentary Affairs in Tehran clarified that he canceled his visit to India due to unavoidable circumstances and domestic emergencies. Representation of Iran in BRICS Forum: At first it was expected that Ghalibaf will participate in the first key parliamentary meetings being held in India after becoming a new full member of the BRICS alliance.

However, it is reported that his visit to Delhi has been canceled due to the rapidly changing geopolitical developments in West Asia and domestic security reasons. Although Ghalibaf will not be present in person, a high-level delegation from the Iranian parliament will represent the country in these meetings and present its policies. India-Iran Diplomatic Coordination: The Iranian diplomatic sources have already officially conveyed the information of the cancellation of Speaker Ghalibaf's visit to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. It has been clarified that the representatives of the Iranian Parliamentary Committee will be actively involved in the discussions on the participation of Global South countries, multilateral cooperation and trade expansion on the BRICS platform.
