Inflation fears are once again haunting the British economy. Britain's budget watchdog has expressed concern that price rises in the country are likely to be higher in the coming period. The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) has released its latest inflation forecasts as Finance Minister John Healy presents his first budget in Parliament.

According to this, Finance Minister John Healy has officially announced that Britain's inflation will reach an average of 3.4 percent in 2027. Experts analyze that the main reason for the revision of inflation expectations is the unexpected increase in fuel prices due to the developments in the international market, especially the Iran crisis. According to the latest figures, inflation in Britain is increasing rapidly. The OBR has clarified that if the current climate continues, the price increase is likely to touch a maximum of 3.75 per cent in early 2027. As these projections have to be revised up significantly compared to the past, severe pressure is mounting on the government's fiscal policies.

However, the budget watchdog expects the situation to gradually come under control in the next few years. Inflation is expected to average 2.1 percent in 2028 and 2029, before reaching the target of 2 percent by 2030, according to the latest projections. Despite the volatile international situation, there is currently a heated debate in European financial circles on how far the new fiscal adjustments and fiscal policies being introduced by the government will help curb inflation.
