Suryaa Telangana Desk: A transport incident in Nawabpet mandal has raised suspicions regarding the illegal movement of fine rice disguised as coarse ration rice. The incident occurred on Sunday night between Lingampally and Ammapur villages.

Local residents and BRS leaders intercepted two Tata Ace vehicles that were in the process of transferring rice bags into a waiting container. Upon receiving notification, police arrived at the scene to inspect the cargo. Preliminary reports indicate that a contractor from Zaheerabad had purchased coarse ration rice through a tender process. However, the presence of fine rice bags alongside the coarse rice has led to questions regarding the legitimacy of the shipment.

Approximately 180 bags of rice were seized. The two Tata Ace vehicles and the container were handed over to the police, who subsequently alerted Civil Supplies Department officials. While officials confirmed that the coarse rice was purchased via tender, the origin of the fine rice remains unclear.

Local residents reported that individuals suspected of involvement in the transport abandoned their vehicles and fled the scene in a car. Questions have been raised regarding the source of the rice, which ration shops it originated from, and who is responsible for the transport. Residents are calling for a comprehensive investigation by Civil Supplies Department officials to determine if illegal transport occurred.
