Surya International & Environment Desk, Florida: The most ambitious large-scale environmental infrastructure project in the history of St. John's County, Florida, USA, has been completed. The county utilities officials have officially announced that the works of 'State Road 207 Water Reclamation Facility' (SR 207 Water Reclamation Facility) built at a huge cost of 191.8 million dollars (about ₹1,600 crore) have been successfully completed.

It is the largest project undertaken in the history of this county. 32.5 lakh gallons of sewage treatment per day: 3.25 million gallons (about 32.5 lakh gallons) of sewage is treated and converted into reclaimed water every day through this plant built with state-of-the-art technology in Elkton area. Although this water is not safe for drinking, it is great for lawns, pastures, landscaping and irrigation needs, officials explained. Due to this, the load on the ground water of 'Floridan Aquifer', which is the main source of drinking water for the people of Northeast Florida, will be reduced significantly. Matanzas River Conservation – 10 Million Pounds of Pollution Prevention: This project will provide massive protection to the local Matanzas River ecosystem.

This plant prevents harmful nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus in sewage from entering the river. By controlling about 1 million pounds of harmful nutrients from entering the river annually, the river ecosystem can be protected from pollution. Environmentalists are hailing the Florida project as a new guideline for waste water management and conservation of natural water resources at a time of extreme rainfall and the threat of drought.
