Suryaa Telangana Desk: District Agriculture Officer Vijayanirmala addressed farmers during a Khet Bachao Abhiyan awareness program held at the Moripirala Gram Panchayat office in Rayaparthy. The event was presided over by Sarpanch Pedagoni Nagaraju.
Vijayanirmala advised farmers to prioritize soil health to reduce cultivation costs. She recommended using fertilizers based on soil test results and adopting practices such as crop rotation, mulching, and natural farming methods. She also encouraged the cultivation of horticultural crops.
Regarding the Yasangi season, the official advised farmers against cultivating paddy, noting that the crop requires significant water, which could deplete groundwater levels and lead to drinking water shortages. Additionally, she emphasized the importance of ensuring the availability of fodder for livestock.
The event was attended by Wardhannapet Division Agriculture Director Narsinga, Mandal Agriculture Officer Gummadi Veerabhadram, Agriculture Extension Officer Kranthi, Deputy Sarpanch Mahendra, Revenue GPO Suresh, Panchayat Secretary Somaraju, and local farmers.
