Hyderabad City Bureau, Major News (October 26): As part of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate's Weekend Special Drunk and Drive drive, Cyberabad Traffic ADCP Administrator G Narender said that 329 people were detained and booked as part of the drive. Cases have been registered against 270 two-wheelers, 12 autos, 47 cars and heavy vehicles. Classifying the cases on the basis of Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC), 255 had alcohol between 36 mg/100 ml to 200 mg/100 ml, -53 had alcohol between 201 mg/100 ml to 300 mg/100 ml, and -21 had alcohol between 301 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml.
Consumed and caught. The concerned police officials said that all of them will be produced before the court according to law. Cyberabad Police reiterated that driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious crime. He said that if the accident is caused by driving under the influence of alcohol, a case will be registered under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code-2023.
The maximum punishment for this offense is 10 years in jail and a fine, police officials said. In the last week (19.10.2026 to 24.10.2026), 146 cases of drunk driving were disposed by the courts. Traffic police officials said that 146 people have been fined.
