Hyderabad Major News (City Spokesperson): In the wake of the upcoming El Nino conditions, the Jal Mandal has intensified pre-emptive measures on the orders of the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to prevent drinking water shortage in the city. Under the guidance of Jalmandali Managing Director Ashok Reddy, alternative water supply arrangements have been undertaken. A special operation is being implemented to divert the Godavari water to the areas that depend on the water in the background of the significant reduction of water reserves in the Singur and Manjira reservoirs.
As part of this, 3000 mm at Velimela village near Outer Ring Road (ORR). Godavari ring main of diameter, 1200 mm. diameter Manjira Phase-III, IV has taken up connection works with gravity main pipelines. Jalmandal Technical Director Prabhu and CGM Rajasekhar inspected the progress of these works at the field level on Sunday.
The concerned officials were directed to complete the works expeditiously and make necessary arrangements to divert the Godavari waters into the Singuru-Manjira supply system. Officials said that if these connection works are completed, it will be possible to provide Godavari water to the Singur-Manjira supply areas, thereby preventing interruptions in drinking water supply even in water-logged situations.
