Surya Agriculture & Trade Desk: Despite this year's 'El Nino'-effected rains, early figures for soybean production in the state of Madhya Pradesh are very encouraging, said Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. He spoke as the chief guest in the two-day 'International Soybean Conference' which started at Indore on Friday. He addressed the scientists, agricultural experts, industrialists and business representatives who had come from different countries. Turning calamities into opportunities: The chief minister said that this year, due to the effect of El Nino across the country, the decrease in monsoon rainfall is not in anyone's hands, but despite the natural calamities, due to the grace of God and the efforts of farmers, Madhya Pradesh has been able to turn those challenges into opportunities.
He expressed happiness that despite the decrease in rains, the initial estimates of soybean yield from the field level are positive, which is a relief to the farmers and the government. Key share in domestic production – priority for agro-based industries: Mohan Yadav reminded that Madhya Pradesh is the leader in the total soybean cultivation area in India with a share of about 45 percent. It is for this reason that the state is called 'Soya State'. He explained that the state government is giving high priority to agro-based industries and food processing units. He clarified that the state government is observing the year 2026 as the 'year of farmer welfare' and comprehensive measures are being taken to increase the income of rice farmers.
Market provision for farmers with industrial corridor: The Chief Minister reminded that the state cabinet has recently approved the construction of a new industrial corridor connecting the cities of Jabalpur-Bhopal-Indore with the aim of providing better transportation and affordable prices for the products grown by the farmers. He expressed confidence that through this project, exports of agricultural products and processing sectors will expand and the rural economy will be further strengthened. The CM said that the discussions and suggestions held at the International Soybean Conference will serve as a guide for the development of the soy industry and the welfare of the farmers.
