Suryaa Entertainment Desk: The new web series Yaga, based on the Slavic mythological figure Baba Yaga, is attracting global attention. Creator Kat Chandler, who adapted the series from a play for digital platforms, stated that the lead character is portrayed as a powerful anti-hero, comparing her to characters like Dexter and Hannibal.
The series follows two detectives investigating mysterious crimes in a small town. Chandler noted that the television adaptation expands upon the original play, incorporating more mysterious elements to provide a new experience for viewers. She explained that the character is designed to challenge stereotypes surrounding those labeled as witches and those perceived by society as frightening.
The series features actors Carrie-Anne Moss, Nova Reed, and Clark Backo. According to the makers, the show explores the depth and psychological conflicts of its characters. The series is expected to be released on an OTT platform for Indian audiences soon.
