Surya Business Bureau, New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has given a major relief to corporates in the country. The government has extended the deadline for filing Annual Financial Statements and Annual Returns with the Registrar of Companies (ROC) for the financial year 2025-26 (FY26).

Officials said the decision was taken considering technical issues, festive holidays and appeals from various trade and professional associations. Decision on extension of time and benefits: As per the Companies Act, the balance sheet, profit and loss accounts and audit reports are required to be submitted through the MCA portal within a specified period after the end of each financial year. But this time, a large number of companies faced difficulties in submitting returns on time due to technical problems encountered in the process of uploading documents on the portal and delays in processing of forms. In this order, the Center has announced this new deadline to avoid any additional fines or late fees on the corporate bodies.

Flexibility for Companies, Professionals: This decision has given ample time to Chartered Accountants (CA), Company Secretaries (CS) along with lakhs of private and public limited companies across the country to complete the documentation of their clients. The Department of Corporate Affairs has clarified that all companies must complete their annual filings by the extended due date without any additional penalties. Officials suggested that there may be no possibility of extending the deadline again and companies should hurry instead of waiting till the last moment.
