As part of SNDP Phase-2, expansion works of canals are going on in Serilingampally constituency with an estimated cost of Rs.79.58 crores. MLA Gandhi inspected the construction work of the canal expansion and RCC box drain which is being carried out at a cost of Rs.24 crore from Nalgandla Cheruvu Alugu to Taranagar under Gachibowli Division.
Speaking on this occasion, he reviewed the progress of construction of RCC bed and sidewalls. He directed the officials to complete the unfinished works on a war footing and make them available to the public. He suggested that early measures should be taken so that the low-lying areas do not get flooded during the rainy season. It has been clarified that quality standards should be followed in the construction of canals and work should be carried out at proper levels without obstructing the flow of water.
The authorities have been advised to show alternative routes to avoid traffic problems during the works on the main roads and to ensure that people are not inconvenienced. MLA Gandhi stated that the works should be completed quickly without any delay and steps should be taken to prevent the recurrence of the flood problem in the future.
