Suryaa Telangana Desk: Former Minister and BRS Mahabubnagar district president Dr. Laxma Reddy, along with former MP Manne Srinivas Reddy, inspected dried crop fields in Ammapur and Dharpalli villages of Nawabpet mandal on Sunday. The leaders interacted with local farmers to assess the impact of crop failure, debts incurred for cultivation, and current hardships.
During the visit, farmers Nirmalamma and Balayya reported that their eight acres of paddy had dried up due to a lack of water, despite investments made through loans. Dr. Laxma Reddy stated that the drought conditions in Palamuru district are concerning, noting that farmers are facing losses due to power cuts and water shortages. He highlighted that many farmers are struggling to recover their investments and are facing severe financial distress.
Dr. Laxma Reddy criticized the government, alleging a lack of support for farmers and issues regarding insurance and the Rythu Bandhu scheme. He demanded that the government declare Mahabubnagar a drought-affected district and include Nawabpet and Midjil mandals in the official list of drought-hit areas. He further called for the government to identify all affected farmers and provide compensation.
The BRS leaders warned that the party would continue to support farmers and initiate a movement if the government fails to respond with necessary relief measures. Several BRS party leaders, local representatives, and farmers participated in the visit.
