Suryaa News Desk: The BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week 2026 concluded at the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Kavali depot on Saturday. The seventh and final day of the event featured an awareness program held at the depot garage premises, focusing on waste reduction and management.

Depot Manager D. Adinarayana addressed the staff, emphasizing that scientific collection, segregation, proper disposal, and reuse of waste are essential for effective management. He categorized waste into three types: wet waste, including grease and oils; dry waste, such as paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, and metal; and hazardous waste, including batteries, LED bulbs, tubelights, chokes, electronic waste, and chemicals. He stated that hazardous materials should not be mixed with regular trash and must be handled under expert supervision.

Adinarayana highlighted the four principles of waste management: reduce, reuse, recycle, and composting. He noted that under government guidelines, it is the responsibility of individuals to segregate waste at the source.

The event concluded with staff members taking a pledge to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle and commit to waste reduction. Depot Manager D. Adinarayana thanked the staff for the successful completion of the week-long program. The event was attended by Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) SK Khaja Mohiddin, Mechanical Supervisor Nazir Khan, Bus Station Supervisor D. Raviprakash, and other depot staff.
