Suryaa National Desk: Surya National & Political Bureau, Patna/New Delhi: The 'INDIA' alliance organized on November 1 at the historic Ramlila ground in the national capital, Delhi... Surya National & Political Bureau, Patna/New Delhi: The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) of Delhi has appealed to senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to postpone the 'India' (INDIA) alliance mega rally scheduled for November 1 at the historic Ramlila Maidan in the national capital. It demanded that the rally be held after November 10 (Bhaidooj) so that the livelihood of thousands of traders, petty shopkeepers and street vendors would not be affected during the festive season.
Supporting the demand of the business community, the BJP leaders were furious at Rahul Gandhi's attitude. Severe impact on festival business – threat of Rs 10,000 crore loss: CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal has expressed concern that this rally will hamper business at a time when large-scale transactions are taking place in Delhi markets during the festivals of Diwali and Dhanteras: More than 20 popular wholesale and retail markets like Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazaar, Khari Baoli, Bhagirath Palace, Karol Bagh are spread within five kilometers of Ramlila Maidan. He warned that if traffic restrictions, barricades and transportation problems arise due to the mega rally, there is a risk of paralyzing the festival business worth around Rs.10,000 crores. He has already written a letter to change the date of the rally stating that due to the many political rallies and dharnas held in October, traders have lost Rs.3,000 crores, especially during Dhanteras, Rs.25,000 crores of business is done across Delhi. BJP flag on Rahul Gandhi's stubborn attitude: Referring to the concerns of Delhi businessmen, BJP leaders attacked Rahul Gandhi's politics.
He opined that it is not appropriate to damage the hard work of small traders and street vendors with political rallies. During Dhanteras and Diwali, people from all over the country come to Delhi markets for purchases, and it is irresponsible to put the common man in trouble with traffic jams and barricades at such crucial times. In the interest of public welfare and traders, Rahul Gandhi demanded that the rally should be postponed immediately.
