Suryaa News Desk: Padmavathi Women's University organized an awareness program on the importance of water conservation on Tuesday. The event was held under the joint auspices of the Department of Business Management and the National Service Scheme (NSS) as part of the international BRICS program.
The event was attended by chief guest Anil Kanchi, co-founder and director of Singapore Planetwise Private Limited, along with guests of honor Professor I.V. Lalitha Kumari, NSS Coordinator Professor Madduru Neeraja, and Director of Student Affairs Professor B. Vijayalakshmi. During the session, the importance of water conservation in India, the efficient use of water resources, and environmental protection were discussed. Students were advised to use water sparingly in their daily lives to preserve resources for future generations.
As part of the program, students participated in a practical activity to clean rainwater harvesting pits located on the university campus. By removing debris from the pits, the students learned the importance of maintaining these structures to ensure rainwater percolates into the ground. Through this activity, they gained an understanding of the role of rainwater conservation in increasing groundwater levels. NSS officers Dr. Y. Sunitha, Dr. V. Bhargavi Reddy, and Dr. Hemavathi were also present at the event.
