Tirumala, October 19, 2026: The grand Aswa Vahana Seva, the final vahana procession of the Navaratri Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara, was held at Tirumala on Monday evening amid devotional fervour.
Sri Malayappa Swamy appeared before devotees in the divine Kalki Avataram, seated majestically on the beautifully decorated Ashwa Vahanam. A large number of devotees gathered along the procession route to witness the sacred procession and seek the blessings of the Lord.
The Aswa Vahana Seva holds special spiritual significance in the Brahmotsavam celebrations. In Hindu spiritual tradition, the horse is associated with the senses, which are often described as restless and difficult to control.
The human body is traditionally compared to a chariot, with the intellect representing the charioteer, the mind serving as the reins and the senses being symbolised by horses. The spiritual message associated with the Ashwa Vahana Seva is therefore the need to control the senses and direct the mind towards the Divine.
The appearance of Sri Malayappa Swamy in the Kalki form further adds significance to the procession. Devotees consider the darshan an opportunity to seek divine grace, spiritual strength and inner discipline.
The Aswa Vahana Seva marks the culmination of the various vahana processions conducted as part of the Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams. Throughout the celebrations, the processional deity Sri Malayappa Swamy, accompanied by Sridevi and Bhudevi, is taken around the temple streets on different vahanams, allowing devotees to have a close darshan of the Lord.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) made arrangements for the smooth conduct of the procession and the convenience of devotees.
The Brahmotsavam celebrations continue to attract devotees from across the country, with the sacred vahana sevas remaining among the major highlights of the annual festivities.
